In the Dpp version 3.2.0.4 we can correct the lens aberration and distortion. Correct the geometrical distortion isn't legal in basic editing but if this is correct in DPP is legal? |

Whether it's done for corrective purposes or not you can't move pixels around or spot edit (other than sensor dust removal) in basic editing regardless of the program you use.

What's the call on Chromatic Aberration when using any program which can fix it like ACR?
seems this says you can - but what you just said kinda means we cant... although i suppose only an SC can bring the hammer down:
You May:
use filters or stand-alone utilities designed to preserve image integrity (such as Neat Image, Unsharp Mask, Dust & Scratches, and color correction tools). These filters must be applied uniformly to the entire image, and must not be used in such a way that their use becomes a feature.
Although not outright naming CA fixes it does seem to allow it... although i can see how it might be in the no distortion part of the you may not...

I've not studied up on the rules, but it used to be what you did to RAW files before conversion was legal.
DPP will fix lens distortions, vignetting, CA, dust, noise and a few other things.

The biggest issue has been when someone has used the lens correction features to create vignetting when it wasn't there originally. This has caused several DQ's in basic editing. |

At some point in the past the SC specifically stated you cannot fix lens distortions in basic editing. It involves moving pixels around and you cannot do that.
