Does anybody know what the heck this thing is? Found it today sitting on the hood of my car in a furniture store parking lot, huge , whatever it is the sucker is drooling. It rode all the way home with me sitting on the hood of my car. It never blew off. Weird looking creature.

You got it all right but you're using weird brackets instead of square brackets... allow me :)

With the thumb tags all you need to put in is the image number, 42807. It will do all the rest for you :)

I think its a Hawthorne Sheidbug (Forest Bug)

Yes, I agree with A Weaver

Looks like a sheild bug to me, as to the variety I've idea. In the UK there at least 2 different ones that I have seen.

Sorry, I can't resist but asking. Why were you sitting on the hood of your car?

(Please note, I am playing not attacking anyone's grammar. This type of "error" is just funny to me, and I love seeing them!)

Kind of looks like a variety of what I call a Stink Bug. It defends itself by giving off a bad odor. Shield bug could also be right.

Shield Bugs and Stink Bugs on the Net

Shield Bug Captured on the Fly

Did it look like any of these?

Stink bug! And I'm thrilled that they're actually called that!

Bound for me to have a "stink bug" sitting on my car, LOL..I had never seen a bug like this before, weird looking thing, and it was huge. Well, at least I was spared the humilation of him testing his "stink" on me...

Hey, neenee, did it look like this one from A Weaver's portfolio?

quote=pinback....."I think this is a Forest Bug (Pentatoma rufipes), as Hawthorn Shield Bugs (Acanthosoma haemorrhoidale) are predominantly green. "

Coolhar your picture is very similar to the thing I saw except it had a small amount of white on the underside, and stripes on his legs, but it definitely was in the shield bug - stink bug variety. Because it is very similar to the photos I have seen here. I just hope I never have another close encounter with another one of these suckers.

This is relevant to the dangling/misplaced modifier grammar joke, not to the Disgusting Giant Bug. This is a line from the Washington Post recently, in an article about problems with vermin at the National Zoo:

"Mice were seen scurrying in the enclosures holding apes and orangutans."

I wonder if any of those zookeepers would be interested in a position with the Redskins? Something like Strength & Conditioning Coach for the Offensive Line.

Here's a little brother to neenee's friend.
