This is popular with the family and friends... but all I can think is 'damn, I really over did the PP again'. I think I'm getting a little better at finding a middle ground. Whatcha'll think?... (yeah, I'm a redneck).
I did learn to start taking notes every time I PP from now on. |

Hi Cynthia ... Welcome to Utah!
My personal taste is for less saturation. I know that early on when I first started playing with digital, I over saturated everything ... if a little was good, more was better. My tastes have changed (although my portfolio still has old images in it so you can still see what I mean). I can't tell you what's right or what's wrong. But for me ... it's just too over saturated, especially the orange.
By the way, although I'm from Utah, I've only ever made it out to Antelope Island once! And it's only about a 45 minute drive for me! Anyway, it was a bit hazy on the day I was there, but I think I took this picture from nearly the same location as you:

Thanks David, I love Utah!
I dropped hubby off early January and visited Tracy's Aviary. Lots of cold birds!
I visited again recently and went to Antelope Island. Lots of bison and antelopes.
Visiting places so beautiful and so far away really humble me. I try to no longer take for granted the landscapes around me. |

I know how you feel... I only had about an hour to do my photo shoot before the sun went down (in that image I posted, the image is already turning orange from the setting sun and we only had a few minutes after that to finish the shoot). So I never had a chance to see ANY of the animals! I'll have to go back ... alone this time ... just to take in and enjoy the scenery.

We drove around the park for a while, but everything was closed except the Visitor's Center. There's one place to get a burger with a great view. I wish I'd had more time to check it out.
I learned a lot of things about the lake itself. Pretty cool stuff... but too little time. No fish, lots of shrimp-like organisms, 25% salt in a large portion of the lake, it really stinks at first, and I wish I had a tent. |

Yea, it does smell, but thats the beauty of it, haha. Also, if you like photographing the lakes down here, you can also venture down to Utah Lake (or heck, come to my town! just kidding) anywyas, Utah lake is also a great photo site, and their sunsets are just breathtaking. Camping there is awesome too. |

Why a Gif instead of a JPG? Doesn't that severely limit the color gamut? |

Wow, I didn't even notice that. I bet you're right ... that's part of what is playing into the "unrealistic" colorization.

gah! Must be 'cause I just re-installed CS3 since my computer crashing and in saving for web I wasnt paying enough attention to the defaults. yeah, looking with fresh eyes today, WAY TOO ORANGE.
On a sidenote. To all you Salt Lake Cityans, all of your meters are currently being changed out to automated ones between now and June. If the guy that changes yours is a cute skinny guy with a mustache driving a black truck, tell him to call his wife, Cindy.
ETA: by the way, is this a little better?
