My four year old Toshiba laptop has finally given up the ghost. Now when I try to turn it on, it says the following file is missing or corrupt: \windows\system32\config\system. Attempt repair by using the original setup CD - but whatever I do, it comes back to the same screen.

So, I'm going into Akihabara tomorrow to get a new computer. It looks@like HP Compaq is the one to get - there aren't many places that sell the English operating system.

Try and get the better screen. The HP's have two screens on the 15". I have a nx6120 (which is a few years old and now needs replacing) but at the time I got the better screen (1400x1050). I think there may even be better screens now.
