		| | whilst making my way to and from places and work and back i try to train my photographic eye and look for good images, however i have a big camera - the 5d and it isnt exactly pocket freindly especially when my ipod might get scratches by the lump of a camera!! so i want to know what you the good people of dpc keep in their pocket as their second camera? or what i should get i cant afford the g9 but im looking for something that does not get hampered by low light, as i like to while away my spare times dark places where the music is loud! so what shall i get ... help

		| | Good low light, & Point& Shoot don't go in the same sentance. I have the G9 and at 800 ISO it's not very good, nor was the S3 that I had before. They are nice cameras but the high ISO noise is unavoidable in a P&S, especially when compared to your 5D, the mother or low noise. IF you are willing to spend $325 or so you can get the S5, lots of features.
ETA, the S5 and the G9 both have hotshoe mounts for a external flash, though you have to carry a flash with you.

		| | my sister has the lumix panasonic DMC-FZ5, and she's come out with some exceptional "point-and-shoot" shots. If I wanted a lighter weight camera, it would probably be this one. I can send some sample shots if you pm me. |

		| | I have no vested interest in this photographer's web site, but he answers almost all of these types of questions... www.kenrockwell.com |

Can tell you from experience that high ISO noise is probably the single biggest issue the S5 has. Other than that it is a wonderful camera that can do almost everything.

		| | I have a Fuji F30 - probably the best low-light P&S ever made, churns out some very acceptable shots indeed. |
