hi all, i am very interested in portrait photography and hoping to buy my first light kit
i a\have been watching so many tutorials of lighting techniques on youtube and reading a lot, so when i got ot the part of buying a kind that matches my needs i gor lost! :S
so i need some help in knowing what to look for exactly?
i want something i can use in portraits, and product photography

i know i will need defusers but what kinds?
ill need a small light box to place a product inside to have all-round defuser
ill need a strobe... or maybe not? u tell me
will i need umbrellas? softboxes? will i need a honeycomb? barn doors
what wil power all of these lights? will i need a remote to trigger these lights or just work with wires?

too many Qs sorry but im realy confused :(

dwterry had some pretty good explaination. I also don't want to repost my strobist links.

You can also search around a bit.
