So, my schedule is as follows:
- I arrive in "Lost Wages" on Friday evening, late
- It's about a 3.5 hour drive, perhaps a bit less, over to Lancaster from Nevada
- I don't have to be back in Vegas until sometime Sunday... but if I don't make it back Saturday night, I'll be sleeping in the rental car :-P

Did you decide on the date? I was thinking about coming...Lancaster is about 1 hour from me.

Sounds like Saturday would be best for Fritz (so he doesn't fall asleep on the drive back to Vegas). I am okay with Saturday.

Everyone else okay with March 29th?

Wish I could make it :(

Chuck, (Hye5), give me a ring during that week and touch base and see where I am at as far as time, maybe we can car pool. Especially since OPEC wants us to spend $4 per gallon for gas.

Thom: Definitely! Also, are you interested in checking out the studio open house referenced in this thread? If you are interested in making this an outing, let me know... it sounds interesting.

Chuck

Yeah, I saw it.

I can not commit to anything until I know how work is. I am going stir crazy and need to be available when ever work starts coming my way.

It sounds cool, but, right now, Lancaster is the best I can do.

Hey geo, the pic didn't show. Can you repost?

Hey guys! Been awhile since I have been involved on the forums. I am still living up here in Lancaster... I am up for either Saturday or Sunday. I remember the 2005 trip, lots of fun :) I work on the weekends so Saturday would be better, Sunday would work afternoon, but will probably be too windy for that.

If I have time I'll try to go out there and take some shots of the conditions right now.

I can do that! Are we going to meet again at the preserve building?

Dang, I am so looking forward to this! The last time I had an opportunity to shoot with the LA group was, I think, the Great Poppy Expedition of 2005. Way, way too long.

It has been way too long!

I'm going to leave Glendale at 8am, should take me an hour. I'll meet up with everyone at the Visitor's Center at the Joshua Tree (or inside) at 9:00am or close to it. Call my cell, hopefully it will work, when you get there. If we are out in the fields and you are meeting up with us, look for a bunch of photos all hanging out together. I have red hair to my shoulders! :)

I've been silently watching (ok, lurking in) this thread, hoping to make it up there this time, but I'm booked for 2 jobs on the 29th so I won't be able to make it up there again. Dag-nabit! It would've been great to meet you all. Be sure to post your photos here, I'd love to see them. I'll hopefully get up there myself at some point this season. Have fun!

Sorry you can't make it! Hopefully you can make the next meet-up, sometime in April. I'll work on that one soon :)

So the official time/place is 3/29 (Sat) 9am? Where is the Joshua Tree Visitor Center?

I wish I could make it. I have other plans that day. :-( Oh well, maybe the next GTG.

Not the "Joshua Tree Visitor Center", that's a few hours away. :-) There's a Joshua Tree in front of the Visitor Center at the Poppy Reserve. See link above.

Oh pretty! Where were these taken?
03/07/2008 05:20:14 PM · #50
These were taken last week in the santiago canyon area. There are small patches all over the canyon. I wish there were large fields so I didnt have to go so tight.
