Just bought one and put it on my new xti. I am rather a newbie with the equipment, but it doesn't seem to stabilize the way I imagined it would. Stabilization is on and I am using autofocus. I am using it in rather low light, perhaps this is the issue?
Thoughts are appreciated. |

| there should be a rather visible difference, try turning the IS off and moving the camera from side to side, then turn the IS on and do the same, you should see a difference. |

Make sure focus is half-clicked, also it is more noticeable at the longer end of it (135)

What shutter speed? IS allows you to hand hold a shot that is about 2 stops slower than you would normally.
For example: At the long end (135) the normal hand held shutter speed is around 1/250. So, with IS on you may be able to shoot hand held at 1/60. Anything slower and you'll probably see movement in the image. |

| Thanks for the assist. I think I have it figured out now. I was shooting in low light and the shutter speed played a part. |
