This summer I'm gonna move my studio from the attic to the big bedroom. More space, more possibilities :D

I've been working on a list, and wondering if I forgot something?

- Black darkening roll-curtains
- Dressoir for props & paperwork
- Small table and 3 chairs
- Mirror
- Music (mp3 or cd)
- Magazine rack
- Box with first aid, stuff to sew clothes, etc.
- Screen for models to dress
- Frames for photos (I want to create a "wall of fame")

More ideas? Would love some input :)

neat! congrats! I'm gunna start building up my new studio soon too. I was thinking of putting in a clothing bar for any costumes/outfits I shoot with and for the models to hang their outfits.

Oh cool! :D

Yeah I was thinking about that too, but I have to check if I have enough space to use one of them!

(I can always attach something to the wall, a rod (is that the right word?) or something like that)

Hmmm... looking at your list there... you might need a camera, and maybe a light or two? :-)

But seriously, congrats on the new space. That sounds awesome!

have you looked at Cindi studio threads for ideas? I know she has a pedestal or too and a chaise.

I keep a stool handy for seated portraits and I have a small step ladder that comes in handy.

pedestal is not really my kinda thing, a chaise would be awesome, but I'm guessing the space (3,5 m x 7 m) is a little too small for one.. I'm planning on going to IKEA and search for an alternative. I'm movind down the house becasue I also have more space at the top: 4,5 m! Right now the ceiling on the attic is a steep one, and I'm bumping my head all the time :P

The small step ladder is a good one!

Thanks :D

IKEA is great isn't it?

I think what cindi does is stacks them off to the side unless needed. I'm not sure what she does with it all.

Right now I'm in the process of putting a bunch of stuff in storage to free up living room space a)to make my wife happy and b) to make room to set up a temporary studio when needed.

IKEA is awesome :D Not only for nice furniture for in the studio, but also for props :D

I'm thinking I can use another room to store the chaise.. haha! Not sure if hubby likes that :P

The livingroom-studio is good too! Lot of moving though.. I'm happy I can use a non-temporary space

I would skip the Screen for the models to dress, that is a pure waste of money (and fun) and then definately put a casting couch in there somewhere, that could come in handy :)

hmm.. I have to say I wasn't really sure about buying that actually, but now I think about that we have the bathroom right across the hall, so if they want to they can change there ;)

Oh, one thing to add to the list: a part of the wall, or a screen on the wall for the models to write about the shoot ;)

:D

I'm going to have a small studio in a house we're building now, and I'm curious - what color do you go for on the walls/floors? Do you think it's easier to have light walls/floors & get lots of reflected light from that, or a dark color to absorb the light?

I'm thinking mid-gray (don;t know another word for it) for the large walls at the sides of the shooting-zone, the rest of the walls (back side and behind the backdrop) will be white.

The floor will be white-washed wood.

You could always paint the walls 50% gray and then never look at a gray card again!!!

you just blew my mind.

how about a clap on disco ball, that would be a good conversation starter and a way to end an awkward silence...clap clap...
