Bad week on Ebay for me. I posted a rant earlier about a rude email I got from a seller. That guy was the king of politeness compared to the one I received tonight. Plus, my camera didn't sell for my reserve price. Bad night all around.

THIS is the auction I questioned. I simply sent an email asking if he had photos of the back of the actual 40d for sale since the photo shown did not appear to be that of a 40d. He has some sort of shade on the lcd, so I figured it was just to show that shade and I wanted to see the actual camera.

Here is the response I received (editing on the f word is mine...believe me, his wasn't edited at all)

Dear jpochard,

All photos are of a 40D... the actual 40D for sale, you f**king idiot. I already have more than enough bids and really don't need to prove anything to an ignorant photographer like yourself.

Have a nice day!!!

I think I'll just take a deep breath and move on to this week with a smile....

Better to find out now, than after the sale when the guy has your money and you have a problem with the camera.

Can't you report that to eBay. I think they have things in place to take care of sellers who don't behave.

Doesn't that violate the eBay Seller TOS? Maybe the guy won't be a seller for too long if you forward that to eBay customer service ...

What really ticks me off is that he has a 100% positive feedback rating (not too many, though.) Gotta love the "Have a nice day" closing.

Because it came through the Ebay contact system, I did submit a request asking if there is someone I can forward the email to. I didn't just want to copy and paste, because that doesn't prove that he sent it. In any case, I do feel that I'm within my rights to at least report it. It's a little beyond simply rude. Who knows if they'll do anything about it. It's really not worth a lot of my time to do much about it, but I'd hate for some other buyer to have to deal with that sort of thing.

Ah ha...found a link at the bottom of the email that can be used to report it. That simplifies matters.
