I got the kit lens soup and like it. A good walking around lens and takes nice macro or portraits. I also got two Sigma lenses, but haven't had a chance to play with them. We have rain/dark skies here.

Hey yall, I think the kit lense takes fine pictures. So far i like the quality even better then that of my sony f707. I think changing the white ballence manually works better then the auto setting.
I also got the 75-300 usm canon lense wich has supper fast auto foccusing. i cant wait to find a really good macro, but first im going to save up for a really good flash- like the canon speedlight 420ex.
Anyways i really hope yoy enjoy your new camera and all of its endless possibilities.
ps-- will look forward to seeing you work on the site. Kevin

For a £100 lens it works well. I have taken some really good photos with it. It fact the last 2 challenges I used it. I also decided to buy it with the camera as it gives you a true wide angles lens. I have 2 other lense 28-80, 100-300 usm, which work well, even better with the AI servo (another story..) but of course with the crop factor, I lost the wide angle, hence the purchase.

For comparison photos taken with the Canon 18-55mm f3.5-5.6 and the Sigma 15-30mm f3.5-4.5 EX DG lenses click here. The Canon stands up quite well, to my eyes, against a lens costing 4 times the amount.

cool thanks

i think its alright for a $100
am enjoying it quite a bit.

i havent messed with a the white balance yet - but find it needs quite a bit of light.

the only thing i could complain about is the manual focus set up is kind of cheesy - and i would rather have a larger focus ring - similar to my older FD lenses thats farther back on the lense.

I'm no expert, but it looked like the photo taken with the sigma lens was a hair darker...

Maybe next year I will get a more fully manual camera like the 300D. I have to get consistent with my consumer grade camera first.
