I was wondering if anyone had any input on joining the PPA. I have seen several members have PPA logos on their profile pages and wanted to know what the benefits of joining are.

Thanks Kevin

You can get a subscription to the magazine for $20, and that will let you 'in' on what they do.
What do they do? Glad you asked! LOL
I plan to join the national PPA in May, and have been a member of a local affiliated org for a couple of years now.
They do a national convention, have state orgs and local orgs. They have print competitions, as well as certified classes and give you the opportunity to do seminars and teaching. If you do all that stuff according their guidelines, you can earn degrees and certificiations from them.
On the business side they offer insurance, advice, legal help, and lots of things like contracts, quickbook templates, etc.

Like any organization, you only get out what you put in. You can be a member of DPC, but if you never enter a challenge or post in teh forums, you'll get nothing out of it. Same for PPA - that's why I belong to a local one that I can attend meetings, be active in, and meet other local photogs - that's the real benefit.
