Just to play devil's advocate, let's see your sources for this.

Common sense...

To quote my dearly departed Papa..." the sad truth about common sense is that... it really isn't all that common".

If you go in detail, you get lost. Things start in terrorist mind small and grows. They already burnt down our houses... what would you do if happens to you? I don't understand what you think "what should" we do? if anything we should do at all? Some people talking like I am saying something wrong by saying "be careful, don't trust your enemy".

I seriously doubt that anyone outside of North Korea trusts North Korea, but that's hardly news. They have a long history of unpredictability. However it wasn't that long ago that the same could be said of Libya... or Germany.

I stated my views on political trust on page 1.
It's like a business contract that must be policed and inspected, because either party can disobey their agreement.

Reposted below:
"Back to the topic, no I agree we should never totally let down our guards.
If a country wants to coexist on peacful terms, I say let them. But we must inspect their peacful allegations strictly and periodically. Trust is just a word in a contract and agreement. Yes there always are some possible dangers that we alway need to be on gaurd for. I would not open total free trade, that has to be well supervised."

I agree. Let me know your proposal for dates when we can come and inspect the government files and installations of the US for evidence of compliance with the principles of promotion of peace and non-aggression.

There's a lot of "truthiness" in this thread.

I don't get why people don't understand why upcoming (pick your word) countries want into the nuclear club... it seem obvious.... It gives them power (no not the electrical type).

I also find it hypocritical that the ONLY country to ever use nukes in anger is trying to stop others getting into the club while deploying missiles over the world (okay, so the are "conventional") and concern so little they withdrew from the nuke treaty - thereby exasperating the reason some countries want them in the first place. I also find it hypocritical that my home country supplies a large chunk of the worlds yellow cake and claims they are not in the nuclear weapons industry

Many things true in this statement, but many have to be thought deeply. I will give example again, and I hope it will make sense.

Many years ago in Wild West, there were gunsmiths, making guns... and everyone had guns no matter who you were. One day people realized that some crazy nuts people were taking advantage of this power, and created law enforcers to control the violent. After that, only sane people carried guns, insane and criminals kept away from any fire arms.

There are many countries out there have nukes, but their presidents or prime ministers are not crazy enough to use it just like that, or worse, sell them to terrorists... remember, terrorists don't have any country. And if US gets nervous about "nuts getting nukes", it's because it seems like everyone hates us... and we are the biggest target.

Right now, US is the biggest country on earth, and still strong... I am sure we want friends, same power or not, but friends that don't think hurting us 24/7.

Someone had to be there, and it's us. If that would be Soviets, than rest would hate them... if that would be Germany, we all would hate them... and so on...

I hope this made sense :P

I am ever so relieved to know that only sane people carry guns. Mind you, some might argue that some of the more nefarious acts of violence involving guns where perpetrated by some rather deranged individuals.

I don't believe this is true in either land mass or population. Perhaps you could enlighten us.

I truly can appeciate your concerns, but your arguments might carry more weight if they were supported by fact as opposed to mere anecdotes and speculation.

RayEthier, let me ask you a question then, person to person... What are your thoughts about US, nukes and other countries in general... If you have any thoughts, I would like to hear them.
