I have been thinking of taking Amtrak to union station in LA and was wondering if anyone else has gone there to take pictures?

I just wanted to go out for the day and was wondering if it is relatively safe if I just hang out inside and take pictures of the place.

I've done it once and didn't have any problems. But I'm a guy, you might want to go with a friend or Jack.

We did an outing several months ago and met at Union Station... we shot some there and all around L.A. (at least the relatively safer areas). Union Station is fine, but if you are going to wander outside too far, you may just want to have someone with.

That being said, if you want to organize an outing, I am sure several people on here would join in, including myself. There is Olvera Street right across the street and there are quite a few unique buildings within walking distance (Disney Concert Hall, Bradbury Building, Grand Central Market, Angel's Flight (still closed I thing) to name a few. Chinatown is newrby as well. Actually, I have been wanting to take a half-day or so and photograph the different metrorail stations as well so that's another option.

Photos from our L.A. outing are HERE
