Hello,

I just shoot my first weeding in raw, all 430 picks. My question is what do i do next?

Should i touch up the picks before converting them to jpeg for printing, or convert and then touch up, also what file type should i save the picks in for the web. Can i convert all the picks at one time or do i have to do 1 by 1.Please help...stuck badly, I don't want to make any mistakes.

Thanks

What editing and raw conversion software do you own?

Oh boy...

Tell us what editing software you have, presumably Photoshop but what version, and are you using the RAW converter that comes with Photoshop or another one?

You need to be able to set up a batch conversion process to generate small, unedited JPG files of all 430 images if you want to show all the images (or most of them) to your clients. These are what you would post as proofs on the web.

The ones they choose to print, you'd go back to the RAW original and process for white balance, contrast, and color in the RAW converter, then open in Photoshop itself for whatever other effects you use. That's basically the workflow, though oversimplified.

There are others here who have experience at batch-processing from RAW, but it is something I have never done; I work on individual photos in my own work.

R.

Wow, the horse goes in front of the cart, not behind. Maybe you should have your workflow down before you take 400+ images of a wedding, but that would be professional.

I can only suggest looking around Google Search.

My workflow:
1. Connect card to computer.
2. Create folders YYYMMDD_EventName and create subfolders
RAW
MASTERS
PRINTS
WEB
3. Copy images to RAW subfolder
4. Safely eject card from computer
5. Bridge: Copyright, rotate, rate, horizon, white balance, exposure, Group-Rename
6. Bridge: Export the Cache
7. Backup images (MAM-A Archive CDs, TDK CD Marker
8. Create Contact Sheet
9. Open RAW Image and Save to MASTERS subfolder

10. Soft Proofing, set colorspace goggles (view/Proof Setup
11. Fix the horizon -- done in #5
12. Clean Image - sensor dust, stray hairs
13. Adjustments

15. Adjust Contrast with curves
16. Color balance (Curves, color balance)
17. Hue saturation Layer (Individual colors)
18. Refine 16-18 to local areas (using mask)
19. Reduce noise filter
20. Drop in different images layers if needed (15-19 again on this layer)
21. Final save on master image file

-- Printer Prep
23. Duplicate Image
24. Flatten
25. Convert from 16 to 8 bits
26. Resize file (4x6, 8x10, 300dpi lightjet/fugi 260dpi for epson)
27. Sharpen image (150%, 1.5, Lens Blur)
28. Profile image (Assign profile)
29. Save file
