| Does anyone here use the Two-Pass Sharpening technique for their photographs? What a great job it does! |

I use a three pass one for most work except for Basic challenge entries. I copy the image and run this called the Luko USM technique, named for a user on TrekeEarth.com.
first at 150, .3, 0. set to darken.
second at 150, .3, 0 fade 50% set to lighten.
third 18, 40, 0. normal settings.
When I say "set to darken or lighten", after you run the USM go to Edit->Fade and change the mode and/or opacity.
I copy the image for two reasons, one is that it adds alot of local contrast and can end up blowing highlights that weren't before and it can become a little noisy too. This way I can make a mask and selectively only sharpen the parts that I like.
What settings do you use?

I use "2 pass sharpening" quite a lot.
It's kinda like when you play something on guitar and a guy goes "nice mixolydian E" and you go "yeah... thanks. Wait, what did you call me?"

Advanced editing and Portfolio pictures I use 3-pass
18-40-0 (Darken)
150-0.3-0 (Darken)
150-0.3-0 (Darken @ 50%)
Save as (full size)
After resize one more round of 150-0.3-0 (normal)- if needed. |

I just use "Smart Sharpen...", does that make me a dummy? :-/

Joe was very kind to share this terchnique with me last week. This was the very first photo I tried it out on I could'nt believe the difference!
