How about a bay area GTG to see the show at the Legion of Honor?

If you are one of those who don't spit on her work, you might be interested in seeing the PBS American Masters show on her.
The ability to watch her work, imagining these complex set ups and making it all quite painless for her subjects was amazing, and yes she does seem to be capable of doing some photoshop work. The show goes through at least 2 shoots for Vanity Fair, and the amazing thing to watch is how certain she is of the image she is going to capture through these operatic set ups she is using for her magazine work, putting hundereds of details together at one time, no mushing about hoping something will happen. She puts all the elements together to get what she envisions, and captures that image with certainty.

Im not an annie spitter. I think she is great. Im just curious if people do their own photoshop work when they get to her level. Also, it didnt seem like it came from her...not her style. I could be completely wrong. Its why I would like to know. I cant find any answer on it.

actually, i know people that are wizards when it comes to creating photoshop works, but they cant take a photo worth a shit. They can use the slightest of snapshots of the human figure and then add as much photoshop in as they like and honestly make it look like her disney photos. Granted, they need the good photo of the human form first. Thats why im wondering if she did the photoshop. I am not questioning her fabulousness. Its just a simple curiosity. I have no clue how too add photoshop magic like that. For example, Kiwiness..look at the amazing things he does in photoshop. Does annie do that too? Or does she have someone else doing it? Thats my question. I wonder if annie answers emails. Maybe I can just write and ask her myself. ;)

There's something missing in all these Annie Leibovitz's Disney Fantasyland - "The feeling of true and deep emotion usually found on her work". Here's a good example why photoshop must be used carefully. I usually compare photoshop to makeup in a woman's face. It can do wonders but if you go too far you can turn her face into a ... (Sorry, I don't know the word in English, but you can choose anyone that fits)

Oy Vey! Why doubt it? Isn't it possible that there are many talented people out there without access to mega-stars or a budget that could do a amazing job given the same set of circumstances?

I guess that's why I posted. This not only applies to AL but so many other people and that is that so many people instantly assign credit and glory onto their name(s) and they don't really look deeply at the work. Another point is to NEVER equate money with talent or at one point you could have said "Arnold Schwarzenegger MUST be the greatest actor because he earned the most money of all Hollywood leading men, three years straight..."

I'm not sure many people bother to look but

Man_Called_Horse posts lot of amazing talent in this thread. It seems to get overlooked based on the lack of response but it gives you a chance to see who's out there so you can somewhat gage things outside of this community. In short, there must easily a 100 photographers posted in that thread who would have torn that shoot up. Give it a look. It leans a little towards the commercial so it's perfect for this discussion.

...but to keep it in the family, I think Jorge

De Sousa is another photographer that would have rocked that shoot...

Keep in mind those aren't highly paid actors who make their living in front of the lens (Beyonce 12.5 million dollars for Dreamgirls and look at her expression in The Teacup)

Just look at the Disney images and remove Annie Leibovitz' name....treat them like an average DPC voter. Outside of the high budget sets and costumes it's pretty vapid. Don't get blinded by her name.

Arnold is great at what he does and thats action movies. He isn't paid to act like daniel day lewis, he is paid to be an asskicking machine in movies.He did that better then any other action star. I think when people say its a hobby then thats just an excuse, a big excuse or scared to try. Afraid of failure is a huge reason why people don't attempt things and just keep it as a hobby.

Some people would rather not the BS of business ruin the love of their hobby. Here is a little quote from David Gilmour (pink floyd)....
