I certainly hope the techs at DPC reveal 4 ribbons on the front page at the end of this challenge! |

Meanwhile, my score on "Leading Lines" is at 6.3. Odd and kinda fun to have simultaneous scores of 3.6 and 6.3

That IS pretty fun, Charlie.
I imagine a lot of the entries feature your past race for the browns, it must be enjoyable for you to see what people did with your shots? |

Well I just finished voting in this challenge. I didn't end up looking at the origianl entries. I just looked at the title and voted according to the quality of the shot. I found there were a few outstanding shots, a lot of good shots and quite a few that didn't quite do it for me. I also think there might have been one or two that were actually aiming for the brown ribbon!! ;)
My score is at around 5.7 It is great that some of you have over 6. I think on the whole this challenge will not be a very high scoring one. |

I'm not voting on this one, as I have found it hard to get my head around the whole concept, and I don't want to inflict my pre-conceived ideas and biases on the entrants, but I have had a look at quite a few of the photos, and the "Brown" they were purporting to improve. I have a feint suspicion that the ribbon winners may prove to have photos that make nothing but a passing nod to the originals. Kudos to those who really tried to get inside the heads of the original photographers and tried to understand their thought processes - that takes real effort, and seems to me to be a more worthwhile endeavour amd what the challenge was about, but hey, what do I know. |

But if the original browned it could be due to a large variety of things. Composition, focus, bad lighting, contrast..... we have been asked how we would do it, so that may mean changing the composition of the subject and how they appear in the picture. In my mind if you dont like how something was positioned in the original picture then you change that, if the original subject was too boring than you do something to not make it boring. By duplicating too much like the original you are risking a brown ribbon. So I wouldn't vote something down if it wasn't exactly like the original, as long as it resembled the original and the original idea and as long as I could say that the changes made definately were an improvement.

I agree with you, but in at least a third of the photos I have compared, virtually the entire photo is changed - to the point that they have absolutely nothing in common with each other. Another point that I didn't make, but has become apparant as I have viewed more photos is that many have not allowed for the context of the original challenge. I haven't enetered, and I am not voting this one, but I do feel quite strongly about it - maybe I will be proved wrong regarding which photos will finish highest, I hope so. |

So when antipasta and pasta come in contact with each other, do they annihilate each other so you can eat more?

The trolls must have been let loose over the weekend, because I've dropped .3 since yesterday. Considering this would still be a PB for me, I can't complain too much!

From the looks of it -- you just may be winning a ribbon with this score in this challenge. As I looked thru all the brown ribbons -- this was what I feared would happen for this challenge: that coming up with an excellent photo from what was there would mostly give people more candidates for a brown ribbon. I don't think I've ever seen such low scores in any challenge. So sorry everyone.
