So, I got myself a 40D, shooting in RAW. Got myself CS3, but it does not recognize the files straight out the camera.... Do I need to convert these files or I am just not opening it in the right way?

Need to update Camera Raw at the Adobe site; your edition of CS3 predates intro of 40D and file support is missing.
