ok, my TomTom 510GO won't! Was sick and tired of constantly having to reset the thing and now it just won't reset. I was going out for a drive tomorrow (and hopefully get my FS02 shot).
Can anybody suggest a cheap(ish) Sat Nav System for me (am limited to PC World and Halfrauds in reality as I need to pick it up on my way out.

TomTom ONE. Had it for about a year and a half works great every time and can be had for around $120 these days.

If you are also in the market for a mobile phone then it is worth considering making it a GPS enabled phone - I use it for a lot more than driving.
I use a Blackberry 8800 with Google Maps (the beta version that finds your location using GPS and cell site location data - it is free) and an older Windows Mobile phone with both ALK Co-Pilot and Google Maps. Co-Pilot is good for driving and Google Maps superb for walking and general use.
I think that everyone will have GPS phones in a year or so - it is really useful to have the service on hand and getting ever cheaper. For example, I used Google maps while out Christmas shopping to search for local shops that sold specific gifts, for example. It has completely replaced my need for an A to Z or even Google print outs for directions.

i used to do that, but i ran into one huge problem... if you're using the unit to navigate through territory you're not familiar with and a call comes in, i used to get thrown into a frenzy of confusion. |
