In reviewing the results of "Panning" I was disheartened to see that I mistakenly scored several entries 1, 2, 3 &4. It was absolutely by mistake and I am writing to advise anyone that is using the keyboard voting method to be careful and check your scores! I feel really bad, as I never give anything lower than a 5 when I vote. I apologize to those few who did not get the intended vote.

I don't really think an apology is necessary for this. I't sounds like it might a tech issue, and a heads up to voters. Any way, thanks for the warning.

Aw... now you're gonna hafta give out some more 10's to make up for it. ;-)

Admittedly I score too high now; it is partly over compensation for my harsh scoring when I first got to DPC and it is partly compensation for those ridiculous voters (in my opinion)who regularly give out 1's, 2's, 3's and fours. Again, in my opinion, the bottom register of scores do not serve any purpose but to discourage entrants. I have entered some real "stinkers" in the past and constructive comments really helped me to learn, whereas low scores without constructive comments are purely punishment. I like to operate in a "kinder, gentler" community where we can find good in everything and are supportive of all. Caveat: I also recognize that if everyone held my philosophy a lot of the fun would go out of the site, because after-all, it is great to get a high score even considering the many factors that enter into a final score besides the quality of the photo. And in order for a high score to have any meaning, there has to be low scores. That being said, I simply find it more rewarding to score high than low. Everyone is trying their best. A little positive reinforcement can go a long way.
