Woah! I don't remember that hand power blast in Star Wars!?
Must have been using the wrong DVD player. Wait, was that VHS or Beta? :-) |

We lucked out... my wife made me buy a PS3 so that we would have a Blu-ray player, that way if they lost the battle, we wouldn't have wasted the money on a bum format. Everything is coming up roses at my house!

Should be a class action suit soon to follow. It is like the Divx Player all over again.
I have an HD DVD player but I got it on sale and have enough movies for it now that I am not bothered. Have planned on getting a blu-ray player too so either way ill be happy.
At least my HD player is not totally useless because it does a nice job upconverting standard DVDs to near HD quality.

I hope not .... about the class action suit.
Everybody knew the risks going into this. The memory of beta vs VHS is quite vivid even in the minds of those who never lived it. The story has been told and retold. Everyone knew that one side or the other would likely win out and there would not be "two standards". So a law suit makes no sense to me. You vote with your dollars and hope you win, realizing that maybe you won't.
I haven't bought either one yet ... having decided to wait it out on the side lines until one side won. Now I'm just hoping Blu Ray players will come down in price.

| Class action suit? That's crazy! That's the price of being an early adopter. Grrrrrrrr... |

| I bought into HD DVD and I'm not sorry I did. Got the player for $149 and 9 free HD DVDs with it (Best Buy special at Thanksgiving). Those 9 free discs paid for the player. I've expanded my collection to about 30 discs since, and all at much less than the Blu-Ray equivalents could be had for (via BOGOs and so forth). I'm going to buy even more now that the HD DVD prices are falling to $12 a disc or less! In the end I'll have a lot of titles for a lot less money than Blu-Ray that will continue to play just fine (until my player dies, anyway) and I didn't have to wait around. :-) |

They'll go up since you no longer have a choice. |

Do the early adopters still have their lightsabers? lol...this is soo funny. It takes like 3 seconds to run before it loops and I laugh everytime I see it. Makes me wonder if I took my meds today...

Yes and no... I'd imagine Sony could finally start charging more for their PS3, they've been losing money on it. But on the other hand, many would-be manufacturers have been sitting it out, not wanting to invest money into a potentially losing market (How much is this going to cost Toshiba?). So now that the "war is over", many more manufacturers will finally be willing to step into the market.
And THAT is what will drive the prices down.

I knew something was up when Microsoft dropped their HD DVD player for the 360 down to 129.99
I dont own either format, if I had, it would have been a blu-ray, never really considered the external drive for the 360, or a toshiba HD player.
And this will not sway the sales of the consoles imo, most people buy a gaming console for games, and Microsoft said they are open to the idea of adding Blu-Ray support.. |
