I'll manage. I'll just be one of those low-key captains who is all quiet until I discover we didn't get enough enteries in one round ;)

Besides, the captain doesn't have to do much do they?

Is there still room on the South African team? I live in the US now - but I hail from South Africa.

Is there a South African team... What does Team "Outta Here" mean? - just the left-overs?

Dirt Diver is just using that name as a placeholder. I'm not sure if cujee is still letting teams form but you guys look like you are close to a complete team. I think the rule was to have at least 5 members and I think you are at 4 (i.e. sulamk, jan_vdw, faery, howzit). Can you find at least one more to join?

The South African team didn't have enough people to make a full team so I had to combine South Africa, Bangladesh, India, Holland, Latin America, and Norway. I also see howzit's name on the post above mine but this is the first time I have seen his name. I took all the names from Jon's first post to get the combination teams. So I'm sorry to say to howzit but there is no more room for any players. All the teams are full and unless someone drops out you will have to sit this one out. Watch the teams for dropouts.

To see what team you are on see the spreadsheet.

Okay I just sent e-mails to all Team Captains. I think there's a lot of grammar mistakes cause I typed it quick :P

Hmm got the rules, the 5 people minimum seems a little harsh, what if a couple of us can not make that challenge that week, can we just enter and have whatever points we have entered????

If I receive issues from the other captains about having 5 people, I will bring it down to 4. The problem with having only 2-3 is that some teams can just rely on having their best players entering.

4 sounds a little easier on the teams, or maybe not, see what the others say, I may just be in the minority on this one

Just want to check a couple of things. Is the team points are calculated top 5 ( or 4! ) scores for the team divied by 5 ( or 4! )?
What happens if a team doesnt have enough people in a challenge their scores not considered and calculated?

Well as of now it's 5 for all of them. But if people have a problem with 5 because it's too many, I'll bring it down. If the team doesn't have enough people in the challenge their scores are not considered and they have no chance of earning points for that week. Therefore it's very important for team captains to make sure that they get at least 5 of their members entering each week (or 4)

The DPL was that the top 4 scores counted towards the points regardless of how many more entered the challenge, any less than 4 members on the same team resulted in a 0.0000 being added into that teams average.

If the same rule is applied here I feel it would be fine.
02/16/2008 01:38:44 PM · #718
I'd go with four especially since no scores will count if we don't have that many entries.

Another option is to go with five but have the missing entries count as zero rather than none counting at all. This is how it worked in the DPL. Though sticking with the Olympic theme, not counting at all would be the way to go.

I agree with MAK and myself and Cp. The five thing kinda scares me. lol

Okay i'm strongly considering putting it back to 4, if the majority of you feel this way. I'll let the team captains know if i change my mind ASAP.

I think I want to keep the rule about not counting your scores at all if you can't get 4 or 5 people in. I don't wanna be exactly like the DPL.

cool, the 4 people and if less its a zero!
02/16/2008 01:54:48 PM · #722
I vote for the mimimum of four.
02/16/2008 02:07:31 PM · #723
Since this is in the spirit of the Olympics and team events rely on all members to participate, I'm kinda leaning towards keeping it 5. One leg of a relay team falls, they don't calculate the final time on the three remaining legs. Perhaps participants should have considered the participation factor before signing on. My train of thought anyway. :)
02/16/2008 03:09:42 PM · #724
Addendum to the rule.

It is now 4 instead of 5

Just FYI, the consolated teams need to pick names. Below are some examples. Even though you guys are from different areas it would be great if we can keep it somewhat close to the theme we have going. As I posted earlier here are some possibilities:

Team Sumeria (or more accurately Sumer) - The first civilization! "Land of the Lords of Brightness" which is something I could build a logo/jersey around.

and some others:

Team Atlantis
Team Mesopotamia
Team Byzantine
