I am new to all of this and have been looking at filters. I know I need a polarizing filter, but I noticed that there is the normal kind and then there is a warm polarizer filter. I like the way the colors look in the photos taken with the warm filter, but I am not sure if I should spend the money on this one. Basically, do I want a reg one or would it be ok to get the warm one? I just dont want to buy the warm one only to realize I need the regualr one too!

JPG for now, I'm going to start shooting RAW eventually, I just need to learn more of the basics ;)

meh, you can get a warm one, or you can just add a warming filter in PS after the capture. This way you can also choose to not warm the colours up if necessary.

Personally, i wouldn't bother with the warming one.

Quoting from this site: //dpfwiw.com/filters.htm

"Linear vs. Circular

Polarizers come in two main types, linear and circular, identical in use and effects and differing only in camera compatibility. Specifically, linear polarizers are incompatible with cameras that rely on split-beam optics for functions like metering and auto-focus. High-end digital SLRs may require circular polarizers, but the less expensive linear polarizers will work with most digital cameras, SLRs and rangefinders alike. When in doubt, get a circular."

This is what I was told by my camera shop guy...so I have a circular polarizing filter. (I always trust my camera shop guy.) ;-)

Looks like you've rec'd the feedback you were looking for. :-) A regular CP will be more practical in the long run. Have fun!
