I would just like to clarify that if there is a draw, then both parties must comply with the forfeit...

No way, they both have to wear frilly panties. I want my 25 dollars worth from this site.

It's been great to laugh along with you guys, sorry it wasn't a win for you this time Andi but congratulations on getting the shot in your top 3. I know how much work and effort you put into getting the image just right :o) Now, when are we going to see this pic?! :o)

Oh and congrats MAK ;o)

The 366 days start once he actually POSTS the image in his profile, right?

Yep, we had a discussion about this the other night and Andi realised by taking ages to put the picture up he'd just be prolonging the agony ;o)

Trust me to pick a fight with a fecking gorilla!

Can I just say "It was a good fight, my opponent came out fighting from the first bell, caught me with a few upper cuts to my monkey chin but I held in there with the old DUCK N WEAVE JAB! JAB! to the head a few times and by rollover after the 12th round I didn't care who won, I just wanted it all to end..

Well done mate, now, for me, (and a few others it seems) the real FUN starts!

Grats Marac and comiserations Andi - that was an epic battle. Both great images and I had no idea that either was one of yours.

Must admit - I agree with Jeff - Ecce's is definitely a much more risky entry and really gutsy, especially given the level of shame being bet.

I tell you one thing's for sure: in a few month's time when we have longer days/evenings and better light, the UK people are going to kick some serious ass over icescapes/coastals/aurorae. I feel like shooting over the winter is like only having a fraction of the options open and spring/summer is gloves off and full contact...

I never ever thought I'd say this. Ecce - let's see you in your panties mate :)

I do not understand this "more risky" thing. I thought ecce's shot was totally original and that always counts for credit here. now, IF I had submitted a beautiful purple sky landscape, seascape in HDR then maybe I was being cautious.. Monkey portraits are not known for their brilliant chances of hitting a high score IMHO..

But everyone is entitled to their view. Bring on the panties

It was more a comment on Andi's risk, not on the quality or acceptance of either photo. I'd have gone with the HDR seascape or something as a safe bet, not necessarily because it would be better but because I'd rather go down wearing panties to a purple sky than to anything that required any iota of objectivity by the viewer. Also, similarity attraction determines that people are more likely to appreciate a monkey portrait than they are a smack in the gob! (and also purple skies, icescapes, glaciers, kids, dogs, drops and any other eye candy that isn't a 'negative' image).

Are you suggesting DPC voters are monkeys?... LOL hey it's all good Quasi, No offence taken here dude.

Marac, beautiful animal portraits have often scored well here. See, for example, work by SandyP. I don't mean it's easy, and your image is beautiful.

But really, I meant gutsy in the personal sense of setting it up, beating yourself senseless, and posting a not-exactly-attractive self-portrait. :)

hehe, shouldn't I be doing the whining! (am sure its all done in the best possible taste lol).

Well, am back from work and apart from hoping my 1 and 2 voters did something wrong and their votes don't count (which means I win with a PB lol) then I reckon things turned out much as expected though a little closer than MAK probably wanted - last night was awesome and I really wanted to chip in with some 'boxing' commentary but that would have been unfair.

So CONGRATULATIONS MAK :)

A few things I've learnt from this...

I can do better work with an incentive (must work on that)
I can be creative (though somewhat stupid)
Boxing gloves offer little protection - honest!
My knowledge of layers/doging/burning has improved - the bent nose is real mind you.
Don't pick fights with a gorilla! (the image not you MAK)
Don't take dpc too seriously but take it seriously!
If you don't take a great image in the first round - throw in the towel!
You can hit the update button 60 times a minute but it only changes once.

As for the forfeit I've decided not to do it since its going to be on my profile for 366 days I'll try and make it half decent (if thats possible) so bought another prop! Am away this weekend so doubt it will be up until next week

OK I understand what you mean now, thanks for explaining it, again, no offence taken here.

Sorry for prolonging (my) agony MAK. On the way home from meeting Talj at the weekend I took a rather long detour to a secret location to shoot this weeks challenge entry. So, after a 700+ mile drive and taking way too many pics I arrived home shattered. Have been selecting images to edit tonight and got it down to maybe 20! (there is a 7 in there but I can't find it lol). If I get a chance tomorrow I'll do 'the pic' but its most likely gonna be Wednesday.

Can almost sense your drooling at my impending ridicule!
