Hey everyone,
Most of you have probably seen me referencing my site: The Photography Home Page, and I just added a huge section to my site over this weekend. I now have a reviews section of my site, which has reviews of Canon and Nikon cameras and some of the more popular lenses.
I'm completely up to any ideas on how to make it better/ more useful. My hope is that this can be a very useful thing for many photographers. Please check out the site and tell me what you think about it. The reviews are under the reviews section on the top bar. Also tell me if you want me to add more cameras/lenses/other camera systems.
Appreciate it,
Ryan

| I don't get it... You are just linking to FM's reviews.... What is the value add (besides trying to sell space on your homepage)?? |

And drive up clicks for the search engines by posting here. |

My idea was to provide a resource for people to use, it will likely be revised in the future, but for now I'm just trying to help people out.

Do you have any ideas for me to improve it? I'm certainly open to suggestions.

My opinion on sites like that is that is one big CLUSTER #&%$ I am not sure of the use of them either. Whenever I see those it is CLOSE. It is a giant graffiti billboard and I am not sure how ANYONE would get noticed being on it. It offers no content...it is a link board.
That is just my opinion.

I was kind of wondering what people have as far as suggestions to improve the site, I appreciate the opinions but I would like to know how to improve it.
Would something where I offer the ability for you to review it yourself be better?

OK...That LINK page should be just that. A links page, not your Home page. Your homepage should advertise you or what you offer to bring people in.

You make a good point, but I'm not sure how marketable it would be if its not the home page though. I'll think on it.

It's great that you're 16 and have an entrepreneurial spirit, but I have to agree with the others. Just regurgitating a bunch of links, more or less suggesting that Nikon/Canon/B&H have paid you for advertising space (I'm sure they haven't), really isn't going to get people swarming to buy additional space.
In order for it to have any credibility, it needs its own exclusive content -- reviews, etc. -- coming from exclusive, credible sources. It would be nice if we could just latch onto other people's work and charge people to advertise for the services of being a portal... but I'll be extremely surprised if this turns out to be a profitable venture in its current form. Just being honest...

Yeah... Add something of value that is not a refer (or less kind words) to someone else's content [by the way, where did you get all those images of the cameras/lenses.. from official promo images from vendors? or maybe somewhere else?].
IMO There is no real point allowing user reviews... there are roughly 1.3 billion sites (include DPC) that already have all this stuff and they are far more trafficked then a new site.
I cannot tell you what it is....cause I don't know.... What have you got to add to the ether that will attract viewers?
Edit: Sprelling :-/
