Sorry if this has been asked a hundred times before...I searched the forums but wasn't able to find an answer.

So I am wanting to try out the 'Remote Shooting' option that comes with the Canon EOS Utility.

When my camera's "Communication" is set to Print/PTP and I go into Utility and select the Remote Shooting option, it simply says "Change your camera's communication mode to PC Connection and reconnect.

I do this, and with the Communication mode changed, I attach my camera again. Except this time, nothing happens with the software. It doesn't open automatically, and when I open it manually the 'Camera Settings/Remote Shooting' button is grayed out, and I cannot click it.

Anyone have any ideas? I really appreciate it!

I used to do this with my 20D. Just checked the 40D and there is no communications in the menu... strange. Anyways.

What modes do you have on the 350D? The 20D had Normal and PTP. Remote Capture worked on Normal only. What OS are you using (if Vista the stuff from the Canon CD will need to be updated, there is a new Codec for Vista and the 350D released 1/8/2008).

I have Windows XP and just upgraded Utility to the latest version.

On my camera, I have the Print/PTP and PC Connection modes.

I'm sorry I don't have an answer for you.

I just wanted to point out that the problem could be with some silly little other things, too.

I once struggled for ages to get it going, until I finally came across the problem: I had the cord plugged into a USB extension cable that I use with my card reader, but the remote shooting connection wouldn't happen until I plugged it directly into a port.

Just one last bump to see if anyone out there knows an answer to this....otherwise, no remote shooting for me :(
