Thank you all for the thoughts. We got him from the pound when he was about 6yrs old. We should of called him kneader as he would just jump on your lap and knead you untill he got the spot right and then would settle in for a nap. I wanted a lap cat as all of our other cats were stand offs, but he was my lap cat and I'll miss that the most. |
Rosemary, sorry to hear about your loss. We lost our Barney in November to cancer so I feel your pain. It's wonderful that a cuddler was part of your life. He may not be around physically now, but I am sure he is with you in spirit.

Cats all have such distinct personalities, but I do believe Susan is onto something here. When my Domino kitty passed on, I went to the shelter because I find it darn near impossible to live in a cat-free home. I found Emma. She's affectionate, purrs loudly, doesn't talk a whole lot, and loves to sleep on my lap. Domino was none of the above. But at night, when I went to bed, Domino would curl up and sleep under the covers right next to me with her head on my shoulder. Emma does the exact same thing. :-)
And thanks to Karen and Don for the input! Combined with mom's advice (and she's the first to point out she always picks the wrong one), I believe I have an entry! Now to shoot for either bread or panning or bread pans or bed pans or whatever the opens are... Gotta give hipychik a run for her money in the Enzo tournament..... |
Got it in one, Deb. I'm goinjg to Spring Farm CARES sometime this coming year to attend a seminar with a top-notch animal communicator, Dawn Hayman. There is a book out on SFC too and many instances in which a certain animal would tell them they would return in body, and did. I can hear a few disbelieving snorts, but animals can and do communicate with us, or at least try!
Druli thinks I should be spending more time working on my floor and Luna thinks I should spend more time playing with her, and when can she go outside? (Answer: not til her first birthday, in May, and only then with me on a body harness so she doesn't run off).

You guys rock!!!! I'm off to Cripple Creek today it should be a balmy 36, and there is a Ice Sculptors Festival going on. I'll take my bread and panning and see what I can do. :) Maybe there will be cats. Susan you are right about finding another one with the spirit of Spencer, he came to us from the pound after we lost Sledge and there were traits of Sledge in Spencer. Sylvester has traits of Bogart who we lost before Sylvester. I so believe that you do not pick a cat they pick you. My husband has always said that he would come back as one of our pets. |

If you have the body harness on (that might be fun to see...) how does that keep kitty from running away?

I might be out of the challenge side of things for a while.
I broke my glasses in half today, and won't have the $$ to replace them until after tax time, and I don't see so clearly with my old glasses on.
Unintentional lack of focus doesn't do well for photos :D |

The frame or the lens? If it's just the frame - no problem! Duct tape! If it's the lens, clear duct tape! (Do they make clear duct tape?) How about superglue? Just don't apply it while wearing the glasses, of course. |

But she has to wear glasses to see where she's putting the glue!
Bummer, Lea. Any opticians do credit? |

Nah, hire the hubby to do the glue bit. It ain't pretty but it'll work, at least temporarily.
And Peter, you're too funny! I do that reply thing all the time. Apparently I'm either untrainable, stubborn, or an unfortunate combination of the two. |

The frame. Right smack-dab in the middle of the nose piece.

Sounds like matchstick and super glue to me. And use a rubber band or one of those sports straps around the back, so they don't go anywhere if it all turns pear-shaped. |

Haven't you ever watched "Napolean Dynamite"? Duct tape is all the rage.
Seriously, try some superglue. But make sure it's completely dry before you put the glasses back on. :-) |

My Free Study entry got 2 faves, I'm so happy :)
Might not have broken a 6, but it's been more than 6 months since I've had 2 faves on a photo, and somehow that matters more... |

LOL Ernie...I guess I should add too that body harness would be attached to a leash of some sort which would then be attached, I hope, to me in some fashion - so long as it's not the hand holding the D40, lol.
Luna has never been outside. I'm hoping Druli/Octopussy will teach her 'don't go near roads and don't sniff noses with skunks, fishers or coyotes' but I feel for her first ventures outside, she should be in some sort of control so I can reel her back in if need be.
Hmmm...I did bring home my old salmon rod and some 15lb fishing line...that might work...:-)
I pulled reflections entry cause it was so boring it put me to sleep. But maybe I'll do an 11th hour entry if I can find something reflective worth taking a photo of.
And Lea...Beethoven composed while being deaf. Surely you can take some decent pix with not-so-perfect lenses! Don't forget the very useful built-in magnify feature in many cameras.

Take a peek at some early entries in last week's challenge. Congrats to hipychik for the top score!
Note to weekly leaders: the rest of us who entered that challenge like to get some glimmer of insight from your high-scoring skills.
EDIT: Username corrected, finger slammed repeatedly in a heavy door as punishment.

I just commented on all the Team Suck earliest memories. As far as I'm concerned, Team Suck dominated that challenge. We had the Lion's Share of thoughtful, imaginative entries. And two of the Posthumous Ribbons went to Team Suckers. Woo hoo! |

Hey anyone else a wee bit trepidatious about entering Misunderstanding? Most dpcers (not us, lol) simply 'don't get' shots in challenges like this...so I think it'll be a TS sweep!!!
Don, any poetic ideas for Misunderstanding?
and btw all...sorry I haven't been commenting much lately, been busy inhaling sawdust when not shoveling snow, doing horsey stuff. And I still have to find time to take pics too!
