I'm right handed and right brained.
Hand dominance and brain dominance are not related.
Here is a quiz to help you determine your brain dominance. |

I'm a leftie, but lefties are not right-brained in the same way that righties can be said to be left-brained.
edit to add:
A quick and dirty reference for the interested.

80% right-brained (what little brain there is).
Hey, that means I can use both the randomness of the right brain AND the fact that it's just too awkward to be a lefty in a righty world to explain my terrible housekeeping! :D I like this.... |

If I were to play baseball - it has, in fact, been known to happen - then I pitch left-handed and bat right-handed. I was actually more than 8 years old when I learned to tell my left hand from my right because a dog bit one :-)
The first world war produced a lot of research material that showed the effect of half the brain being blown away. For example, if the left half of your brain were severely damaged, you might lose the ability to read and write (analytic stuff). If you were Chinese, though, you wouldn't necessarily lose your reading and writing abilities, because you would do your reading and writing on the basis of pictograms and not a sound-related alphabet. If you were young, (under ten?) then the remaining healthy brain tissue could take over the specialised functions of the damaged area. Perish the thought.
Nowadays, to save having to find seriously injured people to carry out brain research, we have FMRI which enables geeks in lab coats to see which part of your brain kicks in in different circumstances. Wow.
I think the lateralisation of 'handedness' has to do with the side of the brain from which the motor functions of the hands appear to emanate. There's a cross-over thing going on there. |

I wonder how much ambidexterity is learned and how much is natural, ie. lefties being forced to adapt?
Baseball; bat either way but definitely lefty for catching and throwing.
Golf; putt either way but left for driving.
I write lefthanded, but can write backwards righthanded, and both at the same time.
My sister gave me left-handed scissors for my 21st b'day, thinking she was doing something nice for me. It took me years to feel comfortable with them, having always had to use righties.
I started out with the mouse on the left but gradually got used to the right because the family got annoyed with constantly having to move it, but the tablet MUST go on the left.
Some things feel fine using right-handed tools for while some, no matter how often I use them, just do NOT. |

Left-handed...
Batting and golfing: Right-handed
Catching: ambidextrious (didn't get a lefty glove till I was an adult)
Throwing: Left-handed
Scissors: Right-handed (I never had lefty scissors)
Computer Mouse: Both equally (although I don't switch the buttons when it's on the left side).

I write left-handed. Bat and catch right-handed. Mouse right-handed, draw left-handed. Never use right shoulder to carry. Drink with either hand and both hands have a horrible habit of lifting its pinkie high into the air.
I'm actually a little surprised that its this common to use different hands for different things. I have a huge family and not one of them uses their left for anything (other than my mom's dad, who uses his left for everything).

I was raised right handed, however a few years ago I broke some bones in my right shoulder and had my arm taped to to my side for a week. I started using my left hand to write and do different things, ever since then I have been using both, I still have more control with right hand but the left is also pretty good. |

Left handed by default, ambidextrous in almost everything but most everything is built for a right handed person. 50/50 on the left right brain quiz. |
