| I have a friend that wants to sell a Nikon SB-27 speedlight. I am considering picking it up if the price is right to add another light to my set-up. I already have a Sunpak 383. I was wondering if anyone uses or has used an sb-27 in an off camera setup, and if so, how it worked out? |

??
Doesn't look like is has manual controls, only compensation adjustments? If not, then it won't work very well. |

The Sb-28 YES, but SB-27, not only no, bur hell nah!
Get another 383 and keep your life simple.

hehe, thanks Leroy :-)
that's the kind of endorsement/anti-endorsement I'm looking for.
I'm thinking he was going to sell for about 50 bux. So I was thinking about it. But yeah, for $80 I can get a new 383. I've just had it a very short time, but so far I am really liking the Sunpak. |

Yeah... paying $50 is definitely not worth the money when you can get a new 383 for $80. Having the same flashes will make setup simpler for you also. BTW, if you can find older Sunpak 333 flashes, they are almost identical in design.

| Try to grab an SB-26 or SB-28 on eBay instead. |

More than likely 6 volts, but YMMV.
I agree with Leroy, get something else. |
