My camera won't focus in PASM anymore. It will focus 'fine' (as good as ever) in landscape, portrait, sports, auto - but WILL NOT in P mode. I don't have macro on and focusing on a tree far away...I know the cam well, all the settings are right - how the hell does that make ANY sense?

Oh no that sucks. Did you take a photo of some really ugly person that broke it? ;) Just kidding. I hope it works again real soon.

Mav, I hear the 300D isn't having that problem. Maybe you should look into geting one of those. (that's 2 in one night for me!)

mine wouldn't focus after purchase, spent 2 weeks with slightly blurre images then cleaned the af sensor and all is well.

Also make sure you have it on AF rather than MF. silly I know.

Failing that, take the bugger back - guaranteed for up to 6 years.

I bought it in Korea.
And if it was the AF (i dont have MF), wouldn't the AF be blocked on landscape and portrait as well?

I am so confuzzled. lol

Have you tried focusing on another object at the same distance or closer objects etc. Probably you have, is it a light issue perhaps? Do you have different metering modes, i.e. spot metering center focus etc.

Have you tried a complete reset of all the settings?
