Okay, not a great photo, but wondering if this is foreground bokeh or something else?

Can someone explain to me how's that foreground bokeh in the first photo posted? It seems that the child is simply out of focus. For bokeh, I thought there would have to be some light reflecting off of the child...

I think the face on the first image rounded because of bokeh. When subject looses its shape and started to get rounded like that "I think" it's called bokeh. If there was something shiny, you would probably see the round shapes better...

I need a clarification from some as well :)

Notice the girls face/head/arm has a quality where it looks like you can see through it. This is Bokeh. Granted it's easier to see Boken when there are lights involved because we know that lights are points of light and when it's a large ball you notice it.

Doesn't it translate directly as "blur" from the Japanese? And blurry it is, so it's bokeh.

: )

One of the all-time favorite subjects at DPC! :-)

Here's a couple of threads from the Bokeh challenge last Nov 2007.
