Don't know about that, but this is real and every bit as good as an excuse. :-)

You might not have to be mad but it probably helps.

Totally looks like a shot of teahupoo in tahiti--yes, it's real :-)
(the name means something like "skull crusher", for good reasons)

I love the way the water changes color as it forms the wave and the light starts to shine through it from behind -

That, and you KNOW you're an amazing surfer when some crew with a helicopter shows up to film what you are doing.

One of the coolest things I've seen in a long time. YouTube is pretty amazing when you think of what's there...

All those links are exactly why I want to go to all those places and shoot. And why I got on a surfboard a few weeks ago. Didnt surf but I paddled and got the feel of the board.. next step baby wave.. eventually.. a tube if i'm good enough .. ~twirls~

I'm dying to get out to Teahupoo to shoot the competition.. if anyone has any tips, connections.. or also wants to go sometime.. I'm yer girl!!!

Here's an illustration of how the wave forms. There's no other wave like it on the planet...

Apparently... for anyone who isn't aware, if you right-click and go copy link location in firefox, and paste into your address bar it works.
