They have an error in their back end programming. They'll need to fix it to get the site back up.

"there"? Why?

IMO of course, DPC is more mature, has longer roots, where as EF is newer and still has growing pains. How long did it take them to retool before their contest began again? 3,4,5 months?

DPC is focused on photography, with a wealth of knowledge from it's membership, tutorials and how too's.

Eyefetch is new. Offers 3 different formats. Each format is an acquired taste leaving open the door for more trolls to wander through contests. Sure, there are tut's there as well, but to publish a tut is like pulling teeth, and the tut's themselves are not all photography related.

DPC's membership, a good 5% has been around since the beginning when the site launched. Another 3%, like myself, have been here more than 3 years.

Eyefetch is constantly losing members.

Speaking of the membership, there seems to be more pro oriented photographers at DPC, where there seems to be more enthusiasts at EF. This lends for more precise information when asked in the forums.

Not to mention members at DPC that do extracurricular activities in the name of quality for the DPC membership. I.E., podcasts, the "Desk" threads, Post Processing Challenge site, and the get togethers.

The EF membership still seems to be less organized, more self important, and way, way more cliquish.

Eyefetch has it's strengths as well. The groups that are there are an interesting idea, and the individual contests those groups put together. The thing is, the grouping could lead to cliques, and favoritisms outside those groups when a general membership contest comes to light.

Overall, DPC is more mature, more focused, and an older, more loyal membership.

EF is still searching.

In my own, honest opinion that is.

As an added note, since not all of us are professional, Eyefetch has become a much better tool to give us better feelings about our photos. I love photography. It is part of my soul, but always felt that I should just trash my camera when dealing with dp. As a dpc'r for 3 years, I have found that the frustration level is way too much around here. So I was basically forced to leave dp generally, since my images receive few comments in the portfolio, I have only received a handful of favorites, and rather than continue to bore people around here with my sorry attempts, I have gone elsewhere to feel like maybe I might have some ability. Around here I am in the lowest 30 percent of all photographers with my overall cumulative, and I have been there from the start. So why wouldn't I go where I receive better comments, more help, and lots of opportunity to enter group challenges from week to week? I always felt that dp was very cliquish, which is another reason why I went looking. Dp is not meant for all, so naturally I will check out other places that are more in line with my true ability, which is amatuer of the lowest degree. Okay, rant is over.
As to the site, I know when you were referring. I just let it be, checked that afternoon and all was right with the world. Right now I am slumping. Noticed my scores there went down when I started spending more time here. Hope I pull myself up again.
