I'm around here for a while now, although not regularly...

But it's only now that I realise what the round part of the ribbons represent!

Anybody else who did not notice?

Ohhhh... I didn't notice, either! I just thought they were genero-ribbons!

Ha! I guess I didn't notice either, because I had to look to see what you were talking about.

Holy CRAP

I've been around for three years and even now had to stare at it for a moment.

good grief...

There are ribbons?

Never noticed! Thought they were just ribbons.

Trivia for you:

If you guessed "aperture", that is incorrect. The white opening in the center is the aperture, but the blue upper part of the ribbon is called a len's "diaphragm"

More trivia:

Generally speaking, the more blades in the len's diaphragm, the better quality lens and better quality bokeh. The DPC ribbon has only six, so it's not quite up there with most lenses. :-)

Yeah, but clever ribbons. They represent also something else, which has obviously to do with photography.

I'm relieved that I am not the only one who didn't see. Who knows, maybe even the ribbon-winners did not notice?

Some of us have never had a reason to look closely at the ribbons.

*sniffles*

Well I must be on the ball because I knew exactly what they were. :)

I was seriously going to use it in the "Six" challenge, but then I got a case of the lazies and just put that idea in the closet along with all of my other "great" ideas.

At one point I was thinking about using slices of pizza for the dia-whatever and six olives/pepperoni or something on each slice with lasagna noodles hanging down. I got so hungry that I ate my idea and never took a photo.

I think that I made the correct choice for my score average.

it's a sphincter, right?

That's hillarious, I never noticed either! That's because I never get any ribbons to look at. Yeah, that's my excuse...

Perhaps that's why there's no actual icon for th Brown Ribbon. {°¤°}
02/01/2008 06:51:03 PM · #22
If you think that's stupid, I thought the brown ribbon was one of three main ones (it looks red to me, I thought) until I finally realised it referred to the last placed entry!
