This is a newbie question so please forgive my incompetence but is there any way of reading the details on a shot? The reason I ask (other than general interest in wanting to know more about people's shots) is that I'm feeling slightly misunderstood in a challenge entry. My shot's not doing badly (6.2ish at the mo) but I KNOW (due to comments) that i'm getting marked down for a technical reason for which there is a perfectly good explanation which I go into in my details.
I hate to seem like the "misunderstood artist" type, but it seems to me that this kind of thing could be avoided by simply being able to read details on a picture. I understand that this might jeopardise the anonymity of the competition but I'm sure there are a lot of people out there who can sympathise. Perhaps a "technical notes" box could be put in place with strict content rules? Just an idea. |

First, no, people can't see your notes until voting is over. At that time you might want to start a thread to discuss your image from your point of view.
In the meantime, if people see a problem with your image - whether there is a good reason for it or not - its still a problem that people see and they are allowed to comment on it.
As you enter more around here, you will learn what kinds of problems DPCers like to pick on and will start avoiding them, or just grow thicker skin. :)

OK good to know cheers, at least I wasn't missing something completely ;-)
I agree clearly this site is about appealing to the DPCers, I am indeed going to have to take this one on the chin I think.
My score just went to sub - 6. In two votes :-( |

Welcome to DPC, James. :)
You didn't have to say you were new. Just mentioning a 6.2 and saying it's not "doing badly" tells me you're new. Many people here have never seen a 6+ score, and most have never seen a 7+ score. In addition, many shots that score in the 5s here win competitions elsewhere, including those judged by professional photographers. Not to say they're somehow more correct, just that scores tend to be low here on DPC for whatever reason.
