What type of camera had sales that peaked in 1984 at 8 million units sold?
...and what type of camera had 7.5 million unit sales in 2007, with 2008 sales expected to easily surpass the 8 million unit mark reached in 1984?

I'd guess 35mm SLRs for the former, and digital SLRs for the latter. |

Here the article.
"Sales of film SLR cameras hit their peak in 1984 with 8 million units. Westfall [Chuck Westfall, technical adviser at market leader Canon] says last year digital SLRs came close to that figure, with nearly 7.5 million sold. "We'll blast through that number easily in 2008," he says."
