The Childhood Without Children challenge had some really low scores, I wonder is 6.4297 a new low for a Blue Ribbon?

It`s the 2nd lowest blue ribbon score. The Affluence challenge holds the record.
What is interesting is having 2 out of the lowest 9 ever blue ribbon scores in this one week.

do you think the quility of images are lower or people are in more disagreement on subjective aspects of the image?

I suspect that the voters' expectations are rising. Look at some of the early scores awarded in 2005 and before - most of those photos would not score like that today. As for image quality, I think it is probably improving, but who am I to judge?! ;o) |

mine has to rank as one of the lowest for a blue ribbon,
all subjective.

(Didn't want to start a new thread)
Is it me or the quality of the entries really gone down last 6 months? I know I keep saying this and smacked by many of you. I also know could be me improving myself a lot, so photos started to look like "less better quality" to my eyes, but the scores also gone down too? no? Even though there are 7's and upper 6's... following positions like 4th place 5th place etc, getting low votes?
I checked the "peace" and "Misunderstanding" challenges, there are just a few, very few good photos...It's like people don't want to do this thing anymore, but still entering anyway.
I can't wait for the summer. I missed flower and bug photos :P
(It also might be the challenge ideas little weak these days) |

I don't think they're "weak," I think they're "challenging."
You can find examples of leading lines, reflections, and rule of thirds anywhere.
It's a lot harder to show bread well, convey "peace" in a photo, or show beauty in the everyday. Those concepts are also much more open to interpretation, so people will disagree on what represents excellence.
I know all about it, because I only seem to score well on the obvious stuff; the trickier ones still elude me.
I also think that, just maybe, some people are scoring non-eye-candy shots higher and not scoring eye-candy so highly.
Oh, BTW, here's the list of challenges with the winning scores sorted in increasing order. You can click the little triangles next to the column headings to sort by other things, like average score.

In this case, that makes me feel weak. Couldn't come up with good ideas :/ and looks like most of us couldn't.
Edit: For your link, I am not saying there are not good photos at all... overall avarage? The following photos after third spot, seems like getting weaker.
Again, it might be juuuuuuust me :P
