My partner and I are hoping to go to London, England this fall. We want to have nice weather for our trip, nice to us means somewhere between 15ºC to 20ºC. We don't want it too hot for all the walking we plan on doing and we'd rather have it too cool than too hot. We also don't want much rain, but we won't be able to control that. When would be the best time to go? Mid or late October? Does London get much rain at that time?

Hey Karen, firstly, I hope we get to meet you both on your trip! Secondly, I think the weather will be pretty much the same mid or late October, however, rain happens here in the UK whenever it feels like it! I would like to think you'd have more good days than bad ones though :o) Keep us posted on what you decide to do :o)

Hmmm. London doesn't have a fall. It has an autumn. ;-Þ

Karen, I think you and your partner should hop on a plane from London to Copenhagen, Denmark and visit me! I live just over the bridge in Sweden.
(sorry, can't answer your questions about London :-)

Karen, the recent trend with the weather in October in the UK has been Indian Summers, we have had warm, dry weather right through until November. However, there is always the chance this will change for 2008, now I have stated this!!

This can be a great time of the year, but evenings are getting shorter and the Sun is lower, giving deeper shadows, but the horrible glaring light of Summer gives way to a more golden light :)

Hope I can get to London if you decide to visit.:)

It's relatively unpredictable year on year unfortunately and there's no really safe time to suggest.

However, there are micro trends (or singularities) that might help you hedge your bets a little. Check out MetCheck here to see what Oct 08 might look like (or typically looks like).

Thanks everyone! I think it would be nice to have a mini get together while I am there. That way you can play tour guide!
