I am trying to use PSE5 for converting my RAW files. The problem is the conversion is to dng & can't find a way to change them over to tiff or jpeg. Am I missing something here? Or is it not possible to convert dng files to another format?

You should be able to convert the RAW files to tiff. (no need for dng - unless you want them)

The only extension that the editor allows is dng or DNG. Unless I am missing something...

dng is Adobe's public format for RAW. I am not sure why you would need it, I was using it only because I was to dense to figure out how to save NEF to TIF is PSE5.

Some feel that changing from the camera's proprietary RAW (NEF, CR2, etc) to Adobe's more "standardized" DNG format that there will be less issues in conversion 10-15 years from now and choose to archive in DNG. |

hmmmm... that explains it and makes some sense, i guess, but who knows what's going to be 'standard' in 10-15 years from now. |
