..Or should I say dreamlist?
What new lenses would YOU like to see?
New cameras, new features... They don't have to be realistic, this is just for fun.
I'll start:
Nikon 50mm f/1.2 Nano coated ED IF AF-S
Nikon 35MM f/1.4 Nano coated IF ED Af-s
Nikon 16-70mm f/2.8 Nano coated ED Af-s IF DX (to match up with the 70-200mm f/2.8)

Well then... for a $300 500g 10-500 f1.0 lens..... I would switch to Nikon :-)
Personally, I would hope for Canon to release something better then the latest Nikon; Pentax/Sony do one better then Canon with something new so that Nikon can leap-frog again in the autumn.... Real competition raises all of us IMO. At the least, Canon should release a top of the line camera that can focus... A MKIIIb if you like :-)
What I would love and will never happen is a open standard RAW format (and no DNG is not it) and open firmware so us hackers can get in and change/add features in the firmware (I know there is an SDK of sorts and there was a hack for one of the Canon rebels but they throttle it to sell newer bodies).

I'd love to see a new version of the 100-400 f5.6 IS. Even if they only upgraded the IS, I want the reach!
An Ugly person filter would be handy as well, especially for self portraits... |

I never found the 100-400 a good range for the weight of that thing... Maybe a 200-400 would work better. Any re-work would prob get rid of the push/pull which would be a shame as one of the few that loved my old push/pull 35-105.
Now there is an idea..... I would suggest a bad image lock - the chip would say, nah photo sux I am not wasting the bits on it - but then I would never get an image out of the thing :-)

Odds are very good this one will come true, but only with a F 1.4. Whether you'll be willing to fork out 1200 bux for a 50mm prime is another thing altogether. |

I second that... although the rumour-mill over at DPReview would suggest otherwise. New Canon SLR's are supposed to be announced today or tomorrow! |

Why not?
With the 450 announcement the 5D is the ONLY body not replaced in the past 12 months, the only non self cleaning, the only non-Digic3 body, only one without liveview...it's really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really out of date.

#1 AF-S DX 16mm f2.8 (recitlinear, not fisheye) 84 degree coverage lens with 62 or 52mm filter threads.
#2 A digital version of the Nikon 28Ti and allow users to shoot RAW with it.
#3 A digital Nikonos (not RS sized)
#4 35mm f1.4 AIS made into an AF lens.
#5 start producing the 70-180 micro again, maybe even add VR
#6 a 70-200 range f4
#7 a 23mm or 19mm DX pancake lens so coupled with a D40 you wouldn't need #2 above.
#8 an iTTL version of the SB-30
#9 start putting threaded cable sockets on it shutter release buttons.
#10 go back to using just 52, 62 & 77 filter threads |
