Seems like the 40D introduction this past Fall (and perhaps rumor of a 5D replacement) are finally having an effect on Canon body prices.
Here's a quote of mine from a thread predating the 40D, and today's (Jan 21, 2008, almost 6 months later) updates shown in bold.

Well well, look at that - the 40D is down $150. I wonder if this is a special at B&H or if it's likely to stay.

No, he has it right; "down $150" as in "price reduced by $150"...
