Well, I did. I tried to find a "cheap" background for family and friends xmas pictures. I did it last year with a canvas I ordered from ebay. This year I couldn't get a decent price on one so I searched all over the net. All of the ebay ones were shipping from China and I wanted to avoid that. The regular places were all too expensive for my needs.
Anyway, I came across backdrops.us. The website said it was in New York and it would be 1 week to make the backdrop and 3 day shipping. Well, I checked the status of the order, and guess what...it's coming from China.
It is being shiped by FexEx and it's moving nicely. It is expected delivery date is Wednesday, but it's already in NJ. It might be here on Tuesday.
I only hope that it is of decent quality.
Did anyone ever try them? Is it junk? Did I get ripped off?
If anyone is interested, I will post the quality of the backdrop when it arrives. (It's a muslin 10 x 20 feet in size) |

I'm most interested in the quality of what you get. Did you order a random pattern one or something with a scene on it?

These were my final image choices. I didn't want to try a custom one. I ended up choosing the bottom middle image. I thought it would work well in my studio.
I already have one similar to the top middle, and i figured the snowmen would have to be positioned in the background so they are not cut off.
They have 100s if not 1000s of designs to choose from for almost every occasion. |

Please let us know on the quality of the product you recieve. I'm needing 3 basketball back-drops for a league shoot in January. I'm also curious on the amount of time it took between order to delivery. I hope that they are of good quality. |

i'd be interested in the materials used, since a lot of the paint/glue/etc. from china these days seems to be poisoning us all... |

I can't remember if it's the same place or not, but I ordered a painted backdrop from a place in NY and it came from China. The paint (if you can call it that) was still damp. The paint itself (if you can call it that) must have been diluted 1:100 (that's one teaspoon of paint to 100 gallons of water). You could almost make out the color. They had two choices, brushed or airbrushed. I took the airbrush version and was not happy with it. There was suppose to be a moneyback garentee, but when I wrote to complain, I never got a answer. If I had known it was coming from China, I would not have bought it. I never even unfolded it completely and stuffed it back into it's wrapper and threw it out in the garage. Even though not all American made painted backgrounds are created equal, they are still better than what comes out of China.

I have ordered from them a couple times. The time between placing the order and arrival has always been good, about a week or sometimes less. The quality is iffy. I bought my favorite Christmas background from them and I have used it for three years. They are made pretty good. I have also bought backgrounds from them that I havent been able to use. The Colors are very vibrant. Sometimes they are so vibrant that they look too fake and they dont work well with skin tones. |
