I'm having trouble with my Sandisk Extreme III 2.0GB memory card.. the camera itself displays the pictures that I took earlier today, but when I connect the camera to Vista there's no way for me to access them. I'm not sure if this is a problem with Vista, or with the card.. but I'm leaning towards both, because Vista should at least show the camera as an extra drive (it recognizes the camera being connected, but that's it. Unfortunately, Canon has not produced any Vista drivers for the old Digital Rebel 300D).

Additionally, when I plug my CF card into an external storage drive (Wolverine) to try to download it, it says there are 0 files to be copied. As a test, I took a random photo with my 128mb CF card and plugged it into the Wolverine and it works fine. So I guess there are 2 issues here... the primary one being: Why is my 2GB not working properly? Another thing I noticed is that earlier I was taking pictures on it and later realized they weren't being saved.. I then took it out and reinserted the card, and then they started being saved.. but it shows me as only having space for about 30 more photos, where it should be hundreds of photos.

Any help would be appreciated, as I'm in Australia right now and want to get back to picture taking ASAP. Preferably without buying a new card, esp since my luggage was lost on the trip here..

I had similar problems with a card once, and it was that one of the pins inside my card reader was bent. Check all the pins in your camera and reader and the holes on your card. Probably not causing the problem, but it might be.

Don't see any bent pins, but I doubt that is the problem since the card is also unreadable in my portable storage device (and a different card works). Reformatting might work, but I don't want to lose the photos I took today if at all possible.

Nevermind - downloaded a program called VAIOSoft Recovery Manager (freeware!) and it recovered everything.. plus the last 300 or so pictures that I took as well (though I had already saved and deleted a bunch of them beforehand).. quite a relief since I had a few awesome shots at the zoo that I didn't want to lose (but was also apparently too lazy to download and save before).

Reformatted my CF card and now it works perfectly.. phew!
