Canon.

This (also here) lens doesn't have a good reputation out there or here... I don't think many people own it anyway because it does give poor images... or maybe not.

I tested and results were not good for me at first. I couldn't find anything good to compare either, seemed like wasted my money and almost returned it until I saw the results with better lights (my two umbrellas) and I will post them here, these could be the only good photos coming out of that lens in the internet, if anyone knows better shots coming out if it please give me the links...

(My previous tests under poor lights.)

Just for the heck of it, this is with Canon 50mm f1.8 lens

I really had hard time to select my lens for very important shooting yesterday. I pulled my hair, and bit the bullet, went with Sigma 28-70 which should be crappy lens. I did the right choice. Fast in dark condition, pictures came out very nice. I can only post one here, others belongs to client, but I will put a few after I got permission. You will definitely agree lens works great.

Remember, I have limited lens collection; I have not tried only 70-300 APO Sigma, which wouldn't help, I needed a wide angle.

This lens works well in most conditions :)

When it's too bright, glare makes soft edges I believe more visible :)

But overall is a very nice lens to use everyday stuff, or wide angle needs :)

Of course, the Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 is a proven performer in that range...

No argument, probably any lens is better than this one for that range, but for its price, I think it does more than what I paid for: $70. I am basically giving more samples here this lens deserves. Not many places have sample photos, even in Amazon; I think I am the only one right now with some sample photos :) Got a best vote around 6.3

...here in DPC, but I think I can get this lens around 6.8 or maybe 7 :)

Why too much attention? I don't know, I just liked it very much :)

Generally when you buy a lens you want to be able to use it's entire capabilities - so wide or long, wide open and stopped down. Why buy a 2.8 lens you can't shoot at 2.8?
It's not as much of an issue in the studio where speed of focus isn't important and you shoot at F8 where even cheap lenses are sharp.

Two words: Seventy dollars. :-D I know I got more than my money's worth out of the Sigma 28-70 2.8-4 AS DG.

Yes, with studio lighting you can shoot at f/8 all the time. Ofcourse you can shoot f/8 most days outside. Just depends on why you bought the lens I guess.

Actually, at 640 pixels on the web, I believe you can get ANY lens into ribbon territory...

True, but still you would notice the difference between very sharp lens and not so sharp lens, even wins a ribbon.

I have to give the lens two thumbs up. I had it when I was with Nikon and it's performance was incredible. The guy I sold it to is still raving about it. It was a workhorse for most of my assignments and I loved it when I was taking pics of my kids. Day or night it managed to do quite well. It was the lens that shot my portfolio along with an 80-200 2.8 that I landed the newspaper job with. I could never knock Sigma because I have had such a good experience with them.

I heard TONS and good things about this lens for Nikon, but nothing for Canon. I actually heard little and not good things about with Canon somehow. I had tests, and it gives soft edges with certain lights and f stops, it is something you learn to use and once you learn, it does very good job :D and price around 70 bucks, it will stay with me for a while... after my Canon 50mm 1.8, my second daily lens :D

Ok, another one with tis Sigma... I beat my own record with this, almost made the top... but there were some trolls (damn) kept me back a little.

Next time... I think I will get front with panning...

Look at the clarity on this photo, and sharpness :D

Yet another 6+ with this lens.

I have a feeling, I am veeeeery close to a 7 with this :)

HAHAHAAA...

I smoked the charts with this one

Sigma should pay me money to advertise its lens that much... As long as you don't shoot against the light, works very well for everything :)

The current challenge I am in looks like will get me a better score with this lens. This little stinking cheap lens got me places ;)

I wonder, what other underestimated lenses out there?!
