There's no real need to 'think' when working out a entry. Sure, you can rack your brain trying to think of a creative, clever, unusual interpretation of the challenge, and you may come up with one. However, you can also go for the obvious. For example, the recent 'Flight' challenge - there's lots of creative pics there, but the higher scorers are simply pics of birds! (Now why didn't I think of that?)
So, if you have a great idea, take the risk and go for it. If you don't, play the percentage and go the safe entry. After all, you gotta be in it to win it!
