I don't agree with all of Joe's points regarding portfolios, comp cards, or contacting agencies.

I don't know that Joe is right, but I also don't know that newmodels.com is any more authoritative. I look around newmodels.com for a name behind the content and didn't find any. It's obvious that Joe is selling his services and I get the feeling newmodels.com is selling a book. Both of which highlight that almost any advice a model receives is adjusted to fit the view of the person offering the advice.
I have talked with four of the agencies in my area, all pretty much commercial rather than fashion, about what type of images they would want from prospectivemodels. I didn't find a consistent approach that would support or disagree with either newmodels.com or Joe. I think the best advice here is that models should learn as much as they can, talk to as many reputable people as possible and then take the responsibility for their own career.

Roger Talley. The book came out well after the site was up.
He ran a commercial agency in NY.
