The art deco district in Miami Beach has a lot of interesting buildings. Also, South Beach in general has a lot of interesting sights (people mostly). Here are a couple of links from people who shoot frequently in Miami: Miami Collection Miami Collection 2 |

Just a few ideas off the top of my head...
Miami Metro Zoo - one of the largest in the US, definitely worth a visit
South Beach - the hotels on Ocean Drive and the huts on the beach are classic icons of Miami
Watson Island Park - great views of the downtown skyline at sunset, take a tripod!
Everglades National Park - airboat rides and gators :)
Vizcaya - beautiful old house/museum/gardens, right by the shore
Hmm... I should probably go visit some of these places myself, now that I've researched them ;o)

A bus? Hrrm, no clue. If you want public transport, the Tri-Rail trains go from many locations in Miami up to the Ft Lauderdale region. However, Miami is a huge sprawling city, and you'll probably find getting around very much easier if you rent a car.

I don't know where to start. I've lived here for 20 years (that's 18 years too long now) and know South Florida pretty well. What do you like to shoot and what would you like to shoot while you are here?
Tell you what, I'll make a deal with you...I'll show you around Miami as best as I can fit it into my schedule and you show me around Peru later on this year. I've been planning to head down there sometime soon.
Let me know when you will be in town and I'll see what I can do. Meanwhile let me know where and what you'd like to photograph and I can give you some info so base your plans on.
If I was to suggest anything without knowing your interests and timing I would generally suggest those places that are at least fairly unique to Miami....
1. South Beach and the art deco areas.
2. The Everglades. Mating season is now through April and the waterbirds are starting to sport their mating plumage. Besides, the mosquitoes and heat are not as bad as in summer.
3. Metrozoo is ranked in the top ten in the country.
4. Florida Keys.
5. A few cool spots that are mostly known and visited by locals.
