Isn't it ironic that most of the pics in the challenge have nothing to do with irony? Mine included maybe? |

Wow. I stayed out of this challenge for the reason that it's a tough challenge and I just couldn't find any ironic subjects. I had to stop voting/commenting, because 90% of the submissions have nothing to do with irony. Kind of sad, but it's a really tough challenge. I only saw 2 or 3 that met the challenge and were interesting enough tovote higher than a 4 on...
Dreams and Nightmares should be fun to view, though. I have an idea for mine, I just have to set it up in time...

I hate to be crass but I don't have much time today (it's Friday!!!)...
I'd have to say that the quality of sibmissions has really dropped off on this challenge. Where are the stunning images at in this one? |

I haven´t decided if I´m going to vote on the Irony challenge.. I have reviewed the pictures and there are very few pictures that actually have something to do with irony. |

You should vote accordingly, if you can do it with conviction. I refrainjed from casting a vote only on those images (and titles) I couldn't be (reasonably) certain.
The challenge appears to be not only beyond the many who entered it, but especially beyond most voters' capability.
I'm actually surprised and delighted by the very few photos, which pulled this challenge off so nicely!

I was thinking about that also, I would give very low scores though.. I haven´t decided if I should skip voting, or if I should vote and reward the pictures that actually convey Irony by voting them high and voting the other ones low....
Of course quality of the picture also comes in play, a beautiful looking non-irony pic will get a higher vote than a bad non-irony pic. |

Exactly my sentiments, Ivar. |

Yeah, but to vote you have to vote on 20% of 130+ photos, which is 26 or so. I didn't see 26 photos I was willing to vote on. Since I'm new, my voting would be 24 photos getting a 2 or 3 and 2 photos getting a 6 or 7...leaving my over average somewhere around 3. Perhaps I'm too concerned about how things look.
Worse yet, I will only vote if I can give constructive feedback. Saying "does not meet MY interpretation of the challenge" isn't good feedback (or is it?). And telling many people that an IRON in an irony shot is rediculous probably isn't the best feedback. If I knew *which* photos wanted serious feedback, I'd vote on them - even if it were all 131.
Honestly, I don't understand. Is it supposed to be humour. Like I'm going to laugh at an iron for irony? Or is it supposed to be cute? Like all those dogs in the At Rest challenge? I wish people would refrain from entering if they don't have something that they really liked or something they wanted feedback on.
...ahhhh... maybe this should have gone under Rant.

My problem was, I just couldn't think of anything funny... so I'm getting slammed for a lack of humour..
<> ah well, I still like my image. |

Personally, i like the images that are serious. Sorry to knock your image if you thought something was funny that i didn't (i found 1 or 2 funny, but the quality of photo was still a 2 or 3).
Sslickk - You ARE allowed to have your sense of humor. But because several people had irons, serval had things that I have no clue as to how it relates to irony, several had quick snapshots (no use of aperature/DOF, composition, lighting,...), and several people couldn't find their spoons (must have been a cereal killer, ha ha), .. all of that leads to 130 entries with just a handful of serious ones.
I mean, it is supposed to be a challenge, right? So shouldn't we put the work into it. If people are shooting for a C average what's the point?
I hope no one takes this too personally. I'm probably only ruffling more feathers than I am persuading anyone. I just hope that people choose to take the time to capture good images.

I'm certainly not offended.
My shot took hours to set up and get "just right", it is not funny, unless you have a sense of humour that is even more morbid than mine, and well, it relys on the title as the second party to the irony.
Very funny, cereal killer,, snort. eww I hate it when the milk gets snorted out the nose! |

So much evaluation here, Dave, would think you have some actuarial experience or sumthin'. :) I had a tough time voting for all the reasons here. I'm new-ish and didn't enter because I didn't find ironic opportunity and I don't care to set up shots. I doubt I'll enter Urban either. I'll sit out until a challenge comes about that's more appealing to me. Originally I felt I'd made a mistake by submitting for Tools, but then felt better since some people enjoyed my shot. That's part of why I joined.

I do, but it's not worth bragging about, that's for sure! :) |
