I agree!

I would like it under old advanced rules.

I would be fine with expert if we had some revisions, i think it needs to still be a photo, i don't think you should make it into a completely computer generated looking shot, like the sci-fi challenge, it would frustrate me to have a great shot, but to be beaten by someone who can edit theirs to look like whatever they want.

Can I submit any photograph that I took in 2007, even if I have uploaded it to my portfolio here? (but not entered in any challenges) - or should they be new photographs to DPC to preserve voting anonymity?

Many thanks

Certainly last year plenty of the highest ranking photos had been in portolios previously. I don't see any problem, as it is natural that if it is your best of the year you will have placed it in your portfolio. I would suggest that you move the portfolio version to your workshop until voting is complete.

For those that care:

Best of 2004 had 530 Entries with 1 DQ
Best of 2005 had 829 Entries with 7 DQs
Best of 2006 had 705 Entries with 9 DQs
Best of 2007 has ??? Entries with ? DQs

Wow, I hope this year's number of DQs don't follow the rising "trend"!

WOW. so many entries!!! I wonder if it's worth entering. I have a shot submitted which I know isn't a ribboner but I quite like it. With so many entries shots are bound to score lower than average.

Scoring 4.x has its fun, i am going to do it. I have many average shots from last year, have to put finger on one of them.

Well that thing the score would tell in the end ;-) .
But if you have 6+ photo that would be great, I do not have that so I have to only enjoy update button and score thread.

Well I dont have a 6+ photo, if I only entered ones that I thought were I wouldn't enter much at all. Dont worry, I take photos, I enter, I enjoy, no matter what the score. A good photo is great, a bad photo is a learning curve. I am getting better shot by shot. So lets sit back and enjoy the best of 2007, I am expecting to see some great shots!!

Yes, you can put it in workshop, or...you can go in your portfolio manager, select it and choose 'hide', it will be hidden from public view, as well as on dpcprints, if you have it up there.

I just entered, that might end up 6+. But if it does it will do it barely.

Good luck, zxaar -- I liked your recent tajmahal entry very much.

I also liked it very much, but I could barely made it into that free study, I only got little time to post process that. If had more time could have done it better.
Thanks for liking it.

Man I HATE this challenge every year! I NEVER think about it until the end of the year when I've already posted all of the shots that "wowed" me. Then I think, well I could've entered this one but it's already been in my portfolio for however many months..... anywho, just wanted to whine a little ;)
Back to flipping thru pics trying to find one that might place halfway decently :)
Good luck to all! And to all those "plan-aheaders" out there that didn't post your best shots, you stink. :)

Just hide the ones in your portfolio then you can choose one of them if you want to.

At least you have shots w/WOW factor, lol! I've only one that would even be ok to enter and I'm not done w/it yet! Yikes!

I'm in - as of last night - and whew! That was a lot of anguish getting the photo, editing, etc, etc. There are not a lot of submissions yet - it will be interesting to see if it shoots up by tonight.

6 hrs remaining and only 386 entries so far! Anybody else?
